Riding Through Wade County in a Flash

In case you do not remember, before the season a certain 12 time all star, 3 time NBA champion, 8 time all-NBA, a Finals MVP, a scoring champion, announced he was retiring when at the end of the 2018-2019 NBA season. That player is none other than Dwyane Wade. Peak Wade is one of my favorite players to watch from my generation. His athleticism was elite and jumped off your television screen with every dribble.

Last night, Wade matched up with his best friend, Lebron James, for the last time. Forever connected by the famous 2003 draft and their time together in Miami, the two exchanged jerseys at the end of the game in quite possibly one of the most iconic jersey exchanges sports fans will ever see. Say what you will about the Wade-Lebron-Bosh Miami Heat, but in that time Lebron and Wade proved to be one of the greatest duos of all time and especially of my generation.

Speaking of the 2003 draft, we all know of the historic career Lebron has had as the number one pick and the historic bust of a career Darko Milicic had at the number two pick. Carmelo is still somewhat relevant in the NBA (although not for great reasons) and has had a fantastic career was the number three pick. Chris Bosh, selected at 4, had an accomplished career cut short for health reasons. Then there is Dwyane Wade who the Miami Heat selected at number five overall to save their franchise from two of the worst seasons in franchise history and he delivered. While his utter dominance did not sustain at the level of Lebron James, Wade has had the second best career of this draft class.

Dwyane Wade deserves a proper send off this season so please ride through Wade County with hall of fame caliber respect
