It was reported earlier today by numerous NFL insiders, that the Carolina Pathers and tight end, Greg Olsen, have agreed to part ways. This is the second player that has a main stay on the Panthers that we know for sure won’t be back with the team next season. For those who were not aware or do not remember, Luke Keuchly announced his retirement shortly after the season ended.
Greg Olsen played nine seasons with the Panthers, amassing three pro bowl seasons where he racked up over 1,000 years. Other than those three years, Olsen was still considered a top tier tight end for his reliable hands and was a favorite target of Cam Newton. Olsen has reportedly admitted that he is not sure if he will continue his playing career as he has numerous tv opportunities he could pursue if he retired; however, he would be open to playing for a contending team. Gee, that sounds like every player ever.
With Keuchly and Olsen out, it certainly seems that the new regime in Carolina are looking to bring in a whole new culture and leadership structure in the locker room which leads you believe to that Cam Newton may also be on the way out in Carolina. We will wait and see what else happens with the Panthers, but I’ll certainly miss watching Olsen if he does in fact to retire.
