Winners Gonna Win

The Jet fan in me was really hoping that I would get to congratulate the LA Rams in my post-Super Bowl piece. At the same time, the Jet fan in me was not surprised to see Bill Belichick and the Pats master the biggest stage once again. The only thing more underwhelming than the Rams offense Sunday night was the final score of 13-3. One of the best offenses in football was held to three points in the biggest game of their career…why?

Bill Belichick proved last night why he is and should be regarded as the focal point of this Patriots dynasty. He had an answer for everything the Rams wanted to do and stopped it from even happening more times than not. A defense that has been known to have a bend but not break mentality was dominant last night and I attribute that completely to Bill Belichick. The Patriots probably don’t win last night without Belichick and the culture he built for this franchise.

The culture of the Patriots really came to light in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady threw an early interception and fumbled early, although it was recovered by the Pats. Jared
Goff of the Rams also had an interception. The difference? The time of the game. The Pats made their mistakes early and the Rams made their mistake late in the game at winning time. The one big play the Pats had was a floated pass to Gronk to take them to the 1 yard line. They kill you with paper cuts and the Rams learned the hard way.

As a Jets fan, I need to swallow my pride and realize it’s just time to admire the greatness of the Pats and appreciate it (when they aren’t playing the Jets). And of course, they are the favorites to win next season’s Super Bowl according to Vegas. Can you blame them?
