Whether things are going right or wrong at the moment, you try to remind yourself that it’s just a game. But what if it’s your last game? What if this is the last game you are going to play with your travel baseball team you have been playing with for the vast majority of your life? What if it is the last time you are going to play organized soccer? In those moments, the moments where you realize it is over, sports are not just a game. In those moments, you realize the influential role sports play in your life. Whether you are the star of the team or one of the last people off the bench, sports teach you an infinite amount of lessons that you never forget as you progress through your life.

I have been playing competitive sports since I was five years old. At times, I was the star of the team. Other times, I found myself at the end of the bench. It was on those teams, when I was not one of the best, that I learned to appreciate sports much more and discovered my passion. Here at The End of the Bench you will see opinionated posts on what is going on in the world of sports. I am not an expert, I am just a fan looking at sports from the end of the bench.
